Our filmclub evenings

Entertainment alone fades. We turn what a film stirs in us into insight we can use. After the film we talk about what we saw and what it did to us, from psychological to cultural and mythological themes.

We make sure to provide an atmosphere close to a cinema experience: Large screen, good audio, comfy seats. Further more we make sure that we mostly have healthy snacks (besides popcorn of course).

What can you expect when you join a seat;

1. Director insight: After each screening, the host introduces the director with a few notes on their life and artistic influences that shaped the film.
   
   
   

2. Quick sharing round: Each participant is invited to give ratings in 3 areas:

1. Cinematography and Soundtrack (visuals, music, atmosphere)

2. Content (theme, storyline, characters)

3. Acting (performances, emotional depth)

3. Group discussion on masculinity: We dive into the film’s exploration of masculinity, including archetypes like King, Warrior, Magician, Lover, and themes like fatherhood. All debates are welcome, including whether the softer or harder side of manhood is desired in the modern world.
   
   
   

4. Personal takeaways: We close the night with everyone sharing what they are reflecting on and taking into their own lives from the film or the discussion.
   
   
   

Film Club is a chance to view films not just as entertainment, but as a mirror for our shared (hu)man experience. Based on your thoughts shared, you leave with an insight to keep and a small action to try before the next screening!
